TopFukamushi tea

深蒸し茶 深蒸し茶

Special fukamushi tea produced in Kikugawa, Shizuoka Prefecture – the birthplace of fukamushi tea.

In order to carry out our tea business, we scoured tea production areas across Japan and came across Kikugawa’s fukamushi (deep-steamed tea). We wanted to bypass producers, unrefined tea plants, production area wholesalers, consumption area wholesalers, retailers and complex distribution channels to bring value back to the customer. This is why we built a plant in Kikugawa, the tea production area.

Then, we developed the Kokumi (rich flavour) range making use of the features of the production area. The rich, mellow and full-bodied flavour captured the hearts of consumers and they became popular products.

Recipient of the most awards in the country – 22!

In a 2011 television broadcast, Kakegawa City has Japan’s Lowest Death Rate from Cancer – Citizens stay Healthy with the Catechins in Fukamushi Kakegawa-cha Tea, there was great emphasis on Kakegawa-cha and focus has now switched from green tea being just a popular drink to it being a health food with a bioregulatory function.
Our fukamushi Kakegawa-cha became our No. 1 seller. There are many passionate producers in the Zenkoku Cha Hinpyokai Fukamushi Tea Category (Kakegawa City) and since the Chagusaba Farming System has been certified as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System and it is a production area which has a history of receiving many awards, over a long period of time, citizens, government and research institutions joined together implement the Kagegawa Study (research on the functions of green tea). This has been so highly evaluated that it has won the most awards (20) of any production area in the country.

We offer teas from various production areas.

At Kunitaro, we offer various kinds of fukamushi tea from Kakegawa-cha, for which the production area has won awards, to Chiran-cha, Sayama-cha and Shizuoka-cha. Furthermore, we offer both leaf tea for teapots, of course, but also tea bags (Tetra Bags) that can be enjoyed with minimal preparation. Our customers can enjoy fukamushi tea in whichever way they prefer.
